"The more we lack the courage and the will to act, the more we condemn to death our brothers and sisters, our children and our grandchildren. When the history of our times is written, will we be remembered as the generation that turned our backs in a moment of a global crisis or will it be recorded that we did the right thing?" ~ Nelson Mandela

Tholulwazi Uzivikele is an NGO (Non Governmental Organisation) located in rural northern KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. It was started in the mid 90’s, registered as an organisation in 2002, to address the overwhelming HIV epidemic affecting 1 in 8 people in its community and leaving over 3,000 orphans in its wake. Over the last few years Tholulwazi Uzivikele has grown in both capacity and experience and has become an organisation that strives to increasingly guide the community in its empowerment.

Tholulwazi Uzivikele originally started with only a Home Based Care Programme, but today offers a broad spectrum of programmes targeting all age groups in the area. These programmes encompass community based orphan care, early childhood development, paralegal assistance, HIV prevention, youth development and community volunteerism.
